The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin applying an asphalt micro-surfacing treatment on streets at the following locations:

  • East of Paso Robles, including:
    • Jardine Road
    • Geneseo Road
    • Union Road
    • Martingale Circle
  • Los Osos, South Bay Boulevard
  • Cambria Area including:
    • Residential streets southwest of Route 1
    • Residential streets northeast of Route 1
  • San Simeon Acres streets

Work is scheduled to start September 18, 2019 and will continue to the end of October 2019.

The work includes the application of a durable seal coat on over 39 miles of pavement to protect from further deterioration and improve the traffic wearing surface.  Depending on the weather, travelers will be allowed to drive on the new surface within 2 to 4 hours. Please see attached maps for specific locations.

Construction signs will be placed in advance of the work to notify the traveling public when work will start in each area.  For the safety of the public and the workers, traffic will be reduced to one-way controlled with flaggers and pilot cars as required during the work.

Most of the work will take place Monday through Friday.  Expect delays of up to 20 minutes and 1 to 2 hours on specific roads.  Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans in consideration of the delays and consider alternative routes.

The project is funded by San Luis Obispo County Road Preventative Maintenance funds. Intermountain Slurry Seal, Inc. of Sparks, Nevada, has been awarded the contract for $2,077,000 to perform the work.
