Public Meeting to Explore Potential Modifications to the Los Osos Groundwater Basin Boundary

Author: Public Works
Date: 3/14/2018 2:53:52 PM

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works invites basin users and interested community members to attend a meeting on the Los Osos Groundwater Basin characterization study and potential basin boundary modifications being explored in the non-adjudicated portions (i.e., “fringe areas”) of the Los Osos Groundwater Basin

The adjudicated area covers a majority of the Los Osos Basin; however, there are multiple “fringe areas” located outside of the adjudicated area. These “fringe areas” are required to comply with the State law guiding groundwater management (the “Sustainable Groundwater Management Act”).

On March 6, 2018, the County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors directed staff to explore a boundary modification for the Los Osos Groundwater Basin in order to align the State’s basin boundary with current scientific/jurisdictional information.

Meeting Information:

Date and Time:         Monday, March 26, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Location:                   CAL FIRE/SLO County Fire – South Bay Training Center

                                    (multi-purpose room)

                                    880 Manzanita Drive

                                    Los Osos, CA 93402

The primary goals of this meeting are to provide information and seek feedback from the public on the following topics:

Key findings of the basin characterization study in the Los Osos Groundwater basin “fringe areas”

Potential basin boundary modifications related to the “fringe areas”

Please visit the following link: www.slocountywater.org/sgma/ to find out whether or not your land is within one of the “fringe areas” on an interactive map and review the public draft of the Los Osos Basin fringe area characterization study that will be made available to view by March 26, 2018. Public comment and feedback will be accepted until April 10, 2018. Please feel free to sign up for the SGMA and/or Los Osos email list at the above web page, to receive future updates on the Groundwater Sustainability Agency activities and meetings.
