Route 58 Crosswalk Improvements, Santa Margarita

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin crosswalk improvements at the intersection of Highway 58 and Encina Avenue in Santa Margarita.

Work will begin August 6, 2018 and continue through September 14, 2018. The work includes upgrading the concrete pedestrian ADA ramps to current standards, installing pedestrian activated flashing beacon lighting and signage for increased visibility of the crosswalk, and repainting the pedestrian crosswalks.  While under construction, the sidewalk access will be impacted, however a pedestrian access detour will be available to maintain access. 

Encina Avenue is the main pedestrian crossing location on Route 58 as it traverses the town of Santa Margarita.  The crosswalk designates the appropriate student route to Santa Margarita Elementary School as well as access to the Santa Margarita Community Park. Please refer to the map on the reverse side for the specific location.

Souza Construction, Inc. of San Luis Obispo has been awarded the contract for $89,400. The project is funded cooperatively by Caltrans District 5 and the County Road Fund.
