Santa Maria Groundwater Basin Boundary Modifications Public Meeting
Author: Public Works

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works invites the public and interested community members to attend a presentation on the proposed boundary modifications to the Santa Maria Groundwater Basin (“Basin”) within the Non-Adjudicated Portions (i.e., “Fringe Areas”) of the Basin.
The adjudicated area covers a majority of the Basin, however, there are multiple “Fringe Areas” located outside of the adjudicated area in both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. These “Fringe Areas” are required to comply with the State law guiding groundwater management (the “Sustainable Groundwater Management Act”, SGMA).
On March 6, 2018, the County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors directed staff to explore a boundary modification for the Basin in order to realign the State’s Basin boundary based on the best available current scientific information.
Date: Thursday, April 12, 2018
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Location: Georgie O'Connor Board Room
602 Orchard Street, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420
The primary goal of this meeting is to provide information to and seek feedback from stakeholders on the proposed Basin Boundary Modification Request in the “Fringe Areas”, which will be submitted to the California Department of Water Resources upon Board approval.
Please visit the following link: www.slocountywater.org/sgma/ to find out whether or not your land is within one of the “Fringe Areas” on an interactive map. A public draft of the Santa Maria Basin Boundary Modification Request Technical Report will be made available to view after April 9, 2018. Written comments and feedback on the report will be accepted until April 19, 2018. Interested stakeholders may sign up for the SGMA and/or Santa Maria Basin email list at the above web page, to receive future updates on SGMA activities and meetings.
