The Community Connection is a one-stop-shop event connecting underrepresented groups to difficult-to-obtain benefits and services. The event is held four times a year at four different venues within the county of San Luis Obispo. While the foundation of the event is the same for all, each is tailored to the local community, taking into account demographics, the stated needs of the local community, as well as the time of year.
The County of San Luis Obispo Veterans Services Office and the County Department of Social Services are teaming up to bring together a huge variety of community partners to provide on-site services ranging from tuition assistance to mental health services.
Mark your calendars! The next Community Connection will be held on Tuesday, August 13th, 2019, 1:30pm-4:30pm, at the Oceano Community Center (1425 19th St, Oceano). A meal will be served at 4pm. All are welcome!

The Community Champion is a title created to encourage and celebrate the efforts of our fellow service providers. The Community Champion team will receive a certificate of recognition for their efforts in actively engaging the community and sharing beneficial information, as well as an achievement prize, provided by the County of San Luis Obispo Veterans Services Office . On the day of the event, our welcoming team will ask the attending public how they heard about the event and document who referred them. The service provider with the most documented referrals by the end of the event will be announced as our Community Champion and receive their prize.
Previous Community Champions include Family Care Network, who received $100 in gift cards to Ribline BBQ, and Morro Bay Dinner Program, who received eight movie tickets to Regal Cinemas, just in time for blockbuster season! We are excited to find out who our next community champion will be!
