Unemployment Rate for San Luis Obispo County saw an increase in June 2025
The San Luis Obispo County Monthly Employment Report (June 2025) shows an decrease in the civilian labor force and civilian employment, and a increase in civilian unemployment.

Unemployment
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported the unemployment rate was 4.8% in June 2025, which is an increase from the revised May 2025 rate. SLO County ranks as the 13th lowest Unemployment Rate in the state. The unadjusted Unemployment Rate in California was 5.7% and 4.4% in the nation during the same period.

Month-over Job Changes
The Mining, Logging, and Construction and Leisure and Hospitality industry experienced the most job growth in this reporting period, each adding 200 jobs. The Professional and Business Services industry added 100 jobs in the report period.

The Manufacturing, Information, Financial Activities, Other Services, and Government industries saw no changes in job loss or growth during the month of June.

The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities and Private Education and Health Services industries experienced job losses in June, losing 200 jobs each.

Total Farm experienced a month-over gain of 200 jobs.

During the June reporting period, San Luis Obispo County gained a total of 300 jobs.

Year-over Job Changes
The Private Education and Health Services industry experienced the largest year-over change, adding 400 jobs. The Professional and Business Services industry added 200 jobs over the past year.

The Mining, Logging, and Construction, Manufacturing, and Financial Activities industries reported no changes since the same time last year.

The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities industry experienced the most year-over loss, losing 600 jobs since this same reporting period in 2024. The Leisure and Hospitality industry had a year-over loss of 500 jobs, and the Other Services industry experienced a decrease of 300 jobs over the past year. The Information and Government industries experienced a year-over loss of 100 jobs each.

Total Farm experienced a year-over gain of 900 jobs.

Overall, employers in San Luis Obispo County lost 100 jobs over the past year.
