Charges Filed Against Indiana Man for Murder in Grover Beach

On Tuesday, November 06, 2018, the District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against Levente Laszlo Lazar (DOB05/07/1992) for the stabbing murder of his mother, Athena Valentiny (64), at her residence in Grover Beach on or about October 24, 2018. Mr. Lazar was arrested in Indiana and booked in the Monroe County (Indiana) Correctional Center pending extradition to California.
Chief Investigator William M. Hanley to Retire after 38 Year Public Safety Career

After serving our local community in law enforcement for more than 38 years, Bill Hanley, Chief of the District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigations, has announced his retirement effective Friday, November 16, 2018. Chief Hanley has served in the role of Chief since 2005 when he was appointed by District Attorney Gerald T. Shea in 2005.
Gang member convicted of robbery with a gun at Costco parking lot

Today, November 15, 2018, a jury found Joshua Logan Myers (DOB 12/23/1998) guilty of second-degree felony robbery while using a firearm and for the benefit of a criminal street gang. He was also convicted of making criminal threats as a felony. Mr. Myers was charged after robbing an individual of personal property in the San Luis Obispo Costco parking lot on December 11, 2017.
Jury finds man guilty of attempted murder with firearm in domestic violence case

On November 16, 2018, a San Luis Obispo County jury found Jim Pinedo (DOB 03/20/1980) guilty of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, inflicting corporal injury to an intimate partner, and several additional felony charges. Mr. Pinedo will appear for sentencing on January 9, 2019.
Sexual assault charges filed against Lyft driver Jason Lemont Fenwick (51)

On November 13, 2018, the District Attorney filed felony charges against Jason Lamont Fenwick (DOB 02/12/1967) for a sexual assault alleged to have occurred in the early morning hours of November 4th in Nipomo. Mr. Fenwick is charged with four felonies and one misdemeanor. His next Court appearance is scheduled for November 21, 2018 in Department 8 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.
