District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that a San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge, the Honorable Timothy Covello, sentenced Craig Anthony Grunow (04/21/1965) to serve 250 years to life in prison for 11 crimes of sexual abuse of three children occurring over a three-year period.

Jury convicts Melissa Brewer for felony hit and run injuring a motorcyclist and insurance fraud

District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that on Thursday, March 16, 2023, a San Luis Obispo County Jury convicted 46-year-old Melissa Roseanne Brewer, of San Miguel, for felony hit and run causing injury to a motorcyclist. Brewer was also convicted of four felony counts of insurance fraud and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.
Marco Antonio Navabarrera sentenced to serve 142 years to life in prison for sex crimes involving two child victims

District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge Craig B. van Rooyen has sentenced Marco Antonio Navabarrera (10/25/75) of San Jose, California, to the maximum punishment for his conviction of eight crimes of sexual abuse of two child victims between 2015 and 2019. He was ordered to serve 142 years and eight months to life in prison.
Paul Flores has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the 1996 murder of 19-year-old Kristin Denise Smart

District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that Paul Ruben Flores (46) was sentenced to serve 25 years to life in state prison after a jury convicted him last October of murdering Kristin Smart in 1996.

District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, a San Luis Obispo County Judge sentenced 36-year-old Daniel Ramirezgutierrez to 435 years to life in state prison for 19 counts of sexual abuse of two children and one adult. The crimes occurred in both San Luis Obispo and Contra Costa Counties.
