In accordance with Board direction, the Department continues to work on improving housing affordability for the San Luis Obispo region, in addition to complying with State housing regulations.

Funding the Journey
RSVP Here: Nipomo Community Workshop 2 / Taller Comunitario 2

What: A review of the results of the community survey (including what types of community improvements Nipomo residents, workers, and stakeholders want to see) and a discussion on what types of funding the community would support for those community improvements.

Housing Updates
On July 24, 2025, the Planning Commission will consider establishing a Regional Housing Incentive Program, a voluntary program that would provide builders simpler access —and likely lower participation cost— to development incentives offered similarly through the State Density Bonus Program if they choose to provide on-site affordable housing units or contribute to the Regional Housing Fund.
On June 26, 2025, the Planning Commission recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt updated regulations related to multi-family dwelling development.
On June 3, 2025, the Board of Supervisors adopted updated regulations relating to accessory dwellings, urban dwellings and urban lot splits. Click on the links below for more information:
