US-LT Resource Conservation District

The US-LT RCD provides technical assistance, education and resources to help agricultural, rural and urban communities preserve these natural elements while supporting robust land productivity in greater San Luis Obispo county, plus parts of Kern & Monterey counties.

Coastal San Luis Obispo Resource Conservation District

The Coastal San Luis Resource Conservation District (CSLRCD) offers a variety of programs to assist farmers, ranchers, landowners and other watershed users in improving and protecting soil and water resources.The CSLRCD has a strong relationship with the Natural Resource Conservation Service helping the local community through technical assistance, funding opportunities and permit coordination. This partnership has facilitated implementation of hundreds of conservation projects in Coastal San Luis Obispo County.

Rick Treinen

This website was largely inspired by the wonderful watershed imagery found on www.slowatersheds.org, which was created by Rick Treinen, a former Cal Poly student. Rick created his site in 2007 as a senior project to catalog watershed, soils and geology information using various ARCGIS software. In the process of cataloging his works, Rick opened an avenue of watershed-rich information that was not previously available in one easy location. We have built on Rick’s model by making available every piece of watershed data ever published through this watershed project site. We hope you find it as useful and convenient as we do – and we hope it helps us all to become better water managers.

Althouse and Meade, Inc.

Althouse and Meade, Inc. provides biological consultation services to land owners and agents, as well as Cities, Counties, and other agencies in California.  They provide expert identification and analysis of biological resources, provide expert, professional service for permit compliance issues, and obtain permits from County agencies, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Regional Water Quality Control Board.  Their team works cooperatively with the California Coastal Commission staff to protect sensitive resources and craft projects compatible with Coastal Commission requirements.  Althouse and Meade, Inc. is currently the consulting biologist under contract with the City of Atascadero, City of el Paso de Robles, and the City of Goleta.

San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors serves as the Legislative body of San Luis Obispo County for the planning and provision of services related to public needs and the requirements of state and federal laws. California law provides for five Supervisors to be elected by district. Each Supervisor is elected for a four-year term. Two of the Supervisors’ terms are staggered so that all Supervisors are not standing for election at the same time. As the elected representative of the people of San Luis Obispo County, the Board of Supervisors establishes overall county priorities and sets policy.

Some of the photography featured on this website was captured by Michael Utin. Born in Los Angeles, Michael Utin now resides in Santa Margarita, CA where he does most of his outdoor photographic work. Michael enjoys bringing awareness of the beauty of Nature to those who care to look. Most of his images are subjects that were found within a short walking distance of parking the car and taking a short stroll. Michael’s interest in the preservation of Nature and the environment has influenced his choice of subjects for his photography, focusing mostly on birds, animals, flowers and the coastline of California.
