Aggressive and Dangerous Animal Response

What is the process?

Remain Calm and Remove Yourself from the Situation

When dealing with an aggressive animal, first always try to remain calm and remove yourself to a safe location.

Report to Animal Services

Once away from the encounter, it should be reported to Animal Services promptly. As much information and detail as possible should be provided. In particular, the last known location of the animal, specific description, and the address or name of the animal's owner is very helpful to the responding officers.

When and where is this service offered?

Situations involving aggressive or dangerous animals which are currently confined or which do not represent an immediate risk to public safety are handled during regular business hours.

However, animal control officers are available to respond to immediate and active public safety concerns involving aggressive or dangerous domestic animals 24 hours a day. To report an emergency situation involving aggressive or dangerous animals outside of normal business hours, call 911.
