Questions and Answers about Clinic Closures

WIC services are not going away. We're still here for you and remain committed to serving all eligible families in San Luis Obispo County.

Why are some WIC clinics closing?

Public Health is preparing for potential reductions in programs and services, and as part of that process, we anticipate the closure of WIC clinics in Cambria, Morro Bay, and Nipomo. These changes are planned to take place after June 30, 2025.

When will the clinic closures happen?

All current WIC offices will remain open through June 30, 2025. Starting July 1, 2025, WIC services will be available at our San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach and North County locations.

Will I still be able to use my benefits?

Yes! Please continue to use your WIC benefits. Your WIC benefits will be added as usual and will not be affected

Should I still attend my WIC appointments?

Absolutely. We encourage you to keep your appointments. We offer both in-person and remote options to meet your needs.

Do I need to reschedule my appointment?

If your appointment was scheduled over the phone, there is no change and we will call you as scheduled. If you have an in-person appointment, it will be moved to one of our WIC offices. Please call or text back if you would like to reschedule your in-person appointment.

How do I know which office my in-person appointment was moved to?

Appointments in Nipomo will be moved to Grover Beach and appointments in Morro Bay or Cambria will be moved to San Luis Obispo.

What if I can’t travel to the new clinic location after July 1st

We understand that transportation can be a challenge. Remote appointments will still be available and we will work with you to ensure you continue receiving services.

Will lactation services still be available?

Yes, lactation services will continue to be offered. They remain an important part of the support we provide to families. Services will be available at our San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach and North County locations. For assistance, please call, text, or contact our WIC Breastfeeding Support Line at 805 781-4344.

Can I change which office I go to?

Yes, you can come to any of the three WIC offices in San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach or North County. Please text back to request which office you prefer.

What if I need a replacement card?

You can come by one of our WIC offices in San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach or North County to pick up a new card, call your nearest WIC office or text back to confirm your address and we can mail a replacement card.

How can I get more information or help?

You can always reach out to your local WIC office or call us directly. We're here to answer your questions and support your family’s health.
