Help Us Protect Your Drinking Water — Cross-Connection Control Survey

Thank you for taking a moment to complete this important survey. The County of San Luis Obispo is committed to protecting the safety and quality of your drinking water. This questionnaire is part of our Cross-Connection Control Program — a vital effort to prevent contamination in our public water system.

What is a Cross-Connection?
A cross-connection is any actual or potential connection between your drinking water and a non-potable source, such as irrigation systems, pools, or improperly installed plumbing. These connections can allow contaminants to flow backward (a process called backflow) into the clean water supply, posing serious health risks.

Why This Matters:
Backflow can introduce pesticides, fertilizers, bacteria, and other harmful substances into the water system. That’s why both the California Department of Public Health (Title 17) and San Luis Obispo County Code (Chapter 8.30) require approved backflow prevention assemblies on properties where cross-connections may exist.

How You Can Help:
This short survey will help us determine if your property may require a backflow prevention device. Your participation plays a key role in keeping our water clean and our community safe. Homeowner cooperation is essential to the success of this program, and we appreciate your involvement.
