Veteran Driver License and Identification Card

What is the process?

About

A Veteran Driver License/ID Card with verification can also play a critical role in enabling access to certain privileges, benefits, or compensation associated with being a veteran without having to carry and produce a Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.

An accredited Veterans Services Representative can verify veteran status and provide the necessary Veteran Status Verification Form (VSD-001). An appointment may be needed.

Get Records

Find your military discharge certificate (DD214). If you need assistance obtaining your military records, contact our office for assistance, or you may request them directly from the National Archives.

Contact Veterans Services Office

An appointment may be necessary.  Please contact the Veterans Services Office at (805) 781-5766 to determine if an appointment is needed.

Visit DMV

Go on-line or call any DMV for an appointment. Then bring your Veteran Status Verification Form to DMV. To schedule an appointment at any DMV, visit www.dmv.ca.gov or call 800-777-0133.

Who is eligible?
