What's New 

Marijuana, Laetitia Hearings Continued to Later Dates

Due to issues related to the Chimney Fire, the Board of Supervisors voted on the morning of Aug. 23 to continue several hearings that had been planned for the public meeting that day. The hearing to consider an interim zoning/urgency ordinance prohibiting the cultivation of cannabis (marijuana) will be continued on Sept. 20. The hearing to consider the appeal related to a Laetitia Vineyard Drive project will be continued on Sept. 27.

County Proclaims Local Emergency Due To Chimney Fire

On Aug. 23, the County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors ratified a local emergency proclamation made by County Emergency Services Director and CAO Dan Buckshi on Aug. 20 related to the Chimney Fire burning in the northern region of San Luis Obispo County. The Board also directed County staff to bring back necessary information to waive fees for people who lose structures in the fire.  Read more.

Animal Services Rescues 44 Dogs from Unsanitary Conditions

County Animal Services officers seized 44 dogs yesterday from an Atascadero home and arrested the homeowner on suspicion of felony animal cruelty. County Animal Services and Atascadero PD jointly served a search warrant to the home and found that the animals were living in the unsanitary conditions, lacked appropriate shelter, and several of the animals had untreated medical conditions.
