Another Citrus Fruit Pest Found in SLO

June 23, 2015 - We've found another citrus fruit pest known as the Asian Citrus Psyllid in an insect trap in the residential area near Laguna Lake in SLO. A quarantine will be established. For more details, read the news release.

County Fire Issues Countywide Burn Ban

June 19, 2015 - California’s increased fire activity, this year, coupled with record-setting drought conditions, require us to take every step possible to prevent new wildfires from starting. Effective June 19, 2015, CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo has suspended all burning permits and open fires within San Luis Obispo County. Campfires within organized campgrounds or on private property are allowed if they are in a designated campfire site that prevents fire from spreading outside the site. Fire Department Training that uses fire is allowed with expressed approval from the Unit Chief.  Read more.

County Decreases Water Use at Public Facilities, Parks

As the drought persists along the Central Coast and other areas of the state, the County of San Luis Obispo continues to take steps to reduce its own use of water on public property. Notably, San Luis Obispo County Parks and Recreation Department has met the 25 percent mandated reduction in water use, and in some cases, has far exceeded that goal. Read more.

FY 15-16 Budget Cover

County Approves Balanced $562.1 Million Budget

The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors approved a $562.1 million budget on June 16, designating $39 million to road construction, improvements and maintenance and giving $2.16 million to more than 60 community programs that serve homeless or at-risk populations, promote health, drive economic development, or foster the arts in San Luis Obispo County. Paso Robles Groundwater Basin Urgency Ordinance Update

The latest updates on the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin Urgency Ordinance can be found at www.pasobasin.org. The ordinance will not automatically become permanent after it expires in August 2015, but the Board of Supervisors has directed staff to work on several ordinances and programs that will affect different areas of the county, including the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin.
