Jury Convicts Travis Dawson of Transportation of Methamphetamine and Heroin and Possession of a Firearm

District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that, a San Luis Obispo County jury found San Miguel resident Travis Ray Dawson (DOB 2/3/1994) guilty of transportation of methamphetamine and heroin for the purpose of sale, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of methamphetamine, driving on a suspended license and providing false information to a peace officer.

On February 8, 2019, a San Luis Obispo County jury found Travis Ray Dawson of San Miguel guilty of transportation of methamphetamine and heroin for the purpose of sale, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of methamphetamine, driving on a suspended license and providing false information to a peace officer.  Sentencing is scheduled for March 18, 2019, in Department 5 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.  Dawson faces a maximum sentence of 6 years and 4 months in state prison.   

The charges stem from two separate incidents occurring within the town of San Miguel.  On November 17, 2017 Dawson was arrested while transporting methamphetamine and heroin for the purpose of sale.  On June 3, 2018 Dawson, while subject to a felony warrant for the November incident, was arrested while in possession of methamphetamine and a loaded .22 caliber handgun.  During this arrest Dawson was driving with a suspended license and provided a false name to law enforcement. 

The case was investigated by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kelly Manderino.
