Summer Childcare Program
The Summer Childcare Reimbursement Program is designed to assist County employees with some of the costs of summer childcare expenses for school aged children. Under this reimbursement program, you pick the summer childcare arrangement, enroll your child in the program and pay for the cost. You then submit an original receipt for your predetermined reimbursement. View the Guidelines below.
Who is Eligible to Apply for this Benefit?
Permanent Employees working 20 or more hours per week in the following bargaining units are eligible to apply for this program:
- BU 01: Public Services
- BU 02: Traders, Crafts & Services Unit
- BU 05: Supervisory Unit
- BU 11: Confidential
- BU 13: Clerical Unit
Program Details
This program provides reimbursement for some of the cost of childcare for children up to the age of 14 that have not yet started high school.
- Application period April 1 - June 30, 2026
- Reimbursement period June 1 to August 31, 2026
- If funds remain, the reimbursement period may be extended on a month-by-month basis beyond August 2026, but no later than December 31, 2026.
Subject to change: Families with 2025 gross earnings up to $150,000 are eligible to apply for the reimbursement program. Your 2025 Federal Tax Return must be included with your application.
Note: Childcare reimbursements, issued by SLOCEA totaling $600 or more will generate a Federal Tax Form 1099 reportable to the IRS.
How to Apply
1. Submit your application on 2025 tax return to SLOCEA
2. Select your choice of qualifying childcare program
3. Submit your claim form with receipt of payment
4. Receive your reimbursement for a portion of your costs
SLOCEA administers this program for all applicants. Applications will be available March 2026. A completed application form and your 2025 Federal Tax Return must be submitted to SLOCEA. Once your application has been approved, you can submit the 2026 claim form for reimbursement.
