Subject Requests for Health Care Services Pursuant to Section 1433

  1. Youth have the right to appropriate medical, dental and Behavioral Health care. 
  2.  Youth shall be provided with opportunities to request medical, dental and Behavioral Health care services while detained at the Juvenile Hall.
  3. Youth requesting medical, dental or Behavioral Health services shall receive such attention as soon as is reasonable and possible.
  4. Youth shall be informed of how to request medical, dental, and Behavioral Health care services during their admission orientation and in a manner, language and vocabulary that is understood by them.
  5. Youth supervision staff shall relay emergency and non-emergency health care requests in a timely manner.
  6. Staff shall inquire and make observations regarding the health of each youth on a daily basis and in the event of possible injury.
  7. There shall be opportunities available on a twenty-four hour per day basis for youth and staff to communicate the need for emergency health care services.
  8. Provision shall be made for any youth requesting health care attention, or observed to be in need of heath care, to be given that attention by the nursing staff.
  9. All health care requests shall be documented and maintained for one year.
