Highway 1 Tourism Marketing District Formation
Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis Obispo adopted a resolution of intention to establish the Highway 1 Tourism Marketing District (H1TMD) and to levy an assessment on the lodging businesses within the H1TMD beginning July 1, 2027, as set forth in said resolution of intention. Forms and documents including a protest form can be found here. Protest forms or written statements need to be turned into the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors office no later than 9am Tuesday, November 17, 2026.

It establishes a new Highway 1 Tourism Marketing District (H1TMD) under the 1994 Property and Business Improvement District Law to replace the existing County Tourism Business Improvement District (CBID) formed under the 1989 law. The existing CBID will disestablish, and the current 2% assessment for lodging businesses in the unincorporated coastal areas of San Luis Obispo County will continue under the new district if approved.*
Who is eligible?
