Felony Embezzlement Charges Filed Against Former Gala Pride and Diversity Center Executive Director Dustin Robert Colyerworth

On November 17, 2025, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office filed four counts of Grand Theft by Embezzlement, and sought an arrest warrant, against Dustin Robert Colyerworth (46) of Santa Cruz. Mr. Colyerworth formerly served as Executive Director of the Gala Pride and Diversity Center in San Luis Obispo.

In the felony complaint filed in the Superior Court, it is alleged that Mr. Colyerworth, while acting as an agent, servant, and employee of the Gala Pride and Diversity Center, embezzled funds from the Gala Pride and Diversity Center over the course of several months beginning in November 2022 and ending in October 2024.

“Embezzlement of funds is crime that we take seriously,” said District Attorney Dan Dow. “It inflicts real financial harm, but its deeper damage is the broken trust and the lost opportunities when the money intended for our community is diverted into private pockets.”

Mr. Colyerworth posted a $20,000 bond with the Superior Court on November 25, 2025, and is not in jail custody. Mr. Colyerworth is scheduled to be arraigned on December 10, 2025, in Department 3 of the San Luis Obispo Branch of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.

A criminal Complaint contains charges that must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. A copy of the Complaint can be accessed here.

This case was investigated by the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
