Cabrillo Estates Sewer Project
The Cabrillo Estates Property Owners Association (CEPOA) is organizing a community effort to explore wastewater management options for the property owners within Cabrillo Estates. In the past two years CEPOA has done a significant amount of work to advance a community wide solution to address septic system failure and replacement requirements under the County’s Local Agency Management Plan (LAMP), including:
- Holding multiple town hall meetings to discuss options to either advise property owners to individually take on advanced upgrades to a failed septic system, or to pursue a collective effort to connect to the Los Osos wastewater system;
- Obtaining $40,000 in grant funds for a conceptual engineering study to identify preliminary cost estimates for the construction of a sewer collection system; and
- Engaging with County staff to request our input on the preliminary cost estimates, including those prepared by MNS Engineers and others administrative and management costs needed to initiate a project.
County staff have reviewed the results of CEPOA’s non-binding straw poll conducted this summer, which indicates that approximately 75 percent of participating property owners favor pursuing a connection to the Los Osos wastewater system. Based on this community interest, County staff have begun taking steps toward formal action.
Project updates will be posted here as more information becomes available.
