Brain Health
Protecting brain health is an important part of healthy aging. Healthy habits-- like staying active, eating well, getting enough sleep, and managing chronic health conditions -- can support and may help reduce the risk of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
It is never too early or too late to build healthy brain habits.
Here are 7 healthy brain tips to explore:
| Get Moving - Find activities that get the body moving and heart rate up. | |
| Eat Well - Choose more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other nutritious foods. | |
| Get enough sleep - Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night. | |
| Protect your head - Wear a helmet when riding a bike, e-bike, or scooter. | |
| Take care of your heart - Manage blood pressure and other chronic health conditions. | |
| Challenge your mind - Learn a new skill, language, hobby, or activity. | |
| Care for your mental health - Find tools to help manage stress and get help when needed. | |
| Be Smoke Free - Avoid tobacco and get support to quit if needed. |
