CSA 18 - San Luis Obispo Country Club Area
San Luis Obispo County Public Works Wastewater Utilities operates County Service Area 18 (CSA 18) Country Club Area. The Wastewater Treatment Facility consists of two aerated ponds to promote biological oxidation, three settling ponds to settle out solids, and a chlorine contact channel for disinfection. The treatment facility is permitted for a maximum flow capacity of 100,000 gallons per day. The recycled water produced is treated to disinfected secondary standards and is used for irrigation at the San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club.


The Public Works Department has several upgrades at the County Club Wastewater Treatment Plant planned when funding becomes available including:
Project DetailsLift Station #1 and Lift Station #2 have severely corroded/missing hatches and guide rails that need to be reattached for functionality and safety purposes Lift Station #3 needs to have pump guide rails installed, control panel seals replaced, and an emergency generator.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspections were conducted on the gravity collection system in 2023 to provide inspection condition assessments for the sewer collection system pipes. These inspections resulted in a Level of Failure (LoF) rating for each pipe segment based on structural and operational and maintenance conditions.

| The 2025 Capacity Study served as a basis of existing and future capacity of the system’s wastewater treatment plant based on flow, permitted capacity, BOD, and nitrogen. The study was used to provide recommendations for improvements to the wastewater treatment system and determined that no additional connections should be allowed as the Small General Permit limits have already been exceeded in some cases.
