Public Works will re-open our front counter to the public on July 6 and start providing some modified services.  Our hours will be 8 – 5, with closure from 12 – 1:30 for sanitation. Masks are mandatory in our building, and we ask that you adhere to physical distancing protocol. Major Roofing Project at the San Luis Obispo Veterans Memorial Building

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin construction on a major roofing project at the San Luis Obispo Veterans Memorial Building. Work will begin on March 4, 2019, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Work will continue through the end of June.


The general scope of work of the project is as follows:

  • Remove and reinstall existing clay roof tile over new roofing underlayment on all tile roofs at the facility and replace broke clay tiles
  • Install new rain gutter system at roof perimeter
  • Install voluntary seismic upgrades to existing roof framing system

Court operations at the Veterans Memorial Building are rescheduled off-site during the work.

Please be aware and acknowledge all safety barricades, traffic control and other public safety measures in place, during the construction phase.

Rob Reynolds Construction, Inc. of Creston, CA will be performing the work.

Completion of this project will significantly extend the useful life of this major facility for the use and enjoyment of all visitors and residents of the community of San Luis Obispo.
