Notice of Vacancies for the Citizens Advisory Committee for the California Men's Colony Prison

Applications are being accepted from County residents for serving on this committee.
The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors are accepting applications from County residents interested in serving on the Citizens Advisory Committee for the California Men’s Colony (CMC) Prison to strengthen the partnership between CMC and the community.
This committee works to improve public understanding of correctional programs and provides input on ways to support and enhance inmate programming; serve as a liaison between the prison and the community; promote understanding and cooperation; facilitate community support; provide business, professional, and religious perspectives; and encourage community service projects and other appropriate activities.
enal Code Section 5056 states that each of the Citizens Advisory Committees will consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Warden from a list of nominations submitted.
Members shall be appointed as follows:
• Two (2) of the members will be appointed from a list of nominations submitted by the State Senator in whose district the institution is located.
• Two (2) persons from a list submitted by the assembly member in whose district the institution is located.
• Two (2) persons from nominations submitted by the City Council of the city containing or nearest the institution.
• Two (2) persons from nominations submitted by the Board of Supervisors of the County containing the institution.
• One (1) person from nominations submitted by the Chief of Police of the city containing the institution, and the County Sheriff of the county containing the institution.
