Public Information Session on the Future of Diablo Canyon

Community members are invited to intend a informational session about the possible extension of Diablo Canyon.
The County of San Luis Obispo County invites community members to attend an informational session on the possible extension of Diablo Canyon Power Plant's operation through 2045. "Diablo Canyon 2045: Local and Statewide Implications," will be held Thursday, July 30, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Katcho Achadjian Government Center, 1055 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo.
Featured speakers include Dr. John Parsons of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who will discuss the economics associated with the proposed extension of Diablo Canyon's operations through 2045, and Dr. David Roland-Holst, Executive Director of Berkeley Economic Advising and Research, who will present information on the plant's economic impacts in San Luis Obispo County. PG&E representatives will provide updates on plant operations, safety systems, seismic monitoring, spent fuel storage, and regulatory oversight. The program will also include a moderated Community Perspectives Panel featuring representatives from education, business, labor, and other community sectors.
The meeting will be streamed live on SLO-SPAN at www.slo-span.org. Members of the public who wish to provide comments may do so in person during the public comment period. This session is informational only.
