Landing the Job and Onboarding
Landing the Job and Onboarding
The purpose of the conditional job offer is for the County to formalize their offer of employment. Pre-placement requirements must still be met to receive a final job offer.
The conditional job offer includes details such as the job title, rate of pay, full/part-time status, and the next steps required to receive the official offer. Typically, these steps involve a background investigation and a medical exam, although additional factors may be required depending on the specific job you applied for.
What is a background?
- A background check includes a check into a candidate’s criminal history, employment history, education verification, and reference checks.
Who performs the background check?
- The County is currently using Checkr for most background checks. Candidates who proceed to this step in the process will receive an e-mail from Checkr prompting them to complete the background check form. Results of the check are sent to the County electronically. Certain safety sensitive classifications also require that a DOJ Livescan (fingerprints) be completed. If applicable, candidates will be provided with information on Livescan locations separately.
What is included in the pre-employment medical?
- County classifications that have a physical or driving component associated with their functions are required to undergo a pre-employment medical evaluation as a condition of employment. Pre-employment medicals include completion of a medical questionnaire and can include other exams appropriate for determining if a candidate is physically capable of performing the duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Who performs the medical?
- Most pre-employment exams are performed by the County’s Employee Health Clinic, however, some components of the physical may be performed by other providers. Out of town physicals are also available for candidates living out of the area.
The Final Job offer is provided after you have completed all pre-placement assessments. The final offer is the time in which you can confidently put in notice at your current employer and will include your anticipated start date.
