How to schedule a Building Inspection.
What is the process?
Schedule Inspection
A contractor or permit-holder schedules the applicable inspection(s) for a construction project, identified by its permit number. All inspection requests must be received no later than 5 pm the day before requested inspection date.
To schedule an inspection:
- Use the Department of Planning and Building’s PermitSLO portal to schedule a building inspection online.
Inspector Assigned
An inspector is assigned and the contractor or permit-holder is provided with a two-hour window in which the inspection will occur for each scheduled inspection.
Inspection Performed
The inspector performs the inspection and provides the results to the contractor or permit-holder.
Who is eligible?
Anyone with a valid county construction permit or grading permit can schedule a building inspection.
Is there a charge for this service?
Please refer to the Department of Planning & Building Fee Schedule for application fees.
When and where is this service offered?
All portions of a project that require a permit are required to be inspected before the work is covered or concealed. Inspections can be scheduled at any time using the Department's PermitSLO portal. Inspections can be scheduled for Monday through Friday, with the following exceptions:
