The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin construction of a 1.2-megawatt solar field on the parcel of land at the end of Oklahoma Avenue and east of the Woods Humane Society building at the County Operations Center (COC).

Work will start on May 18, 2020 and continue through September 8, 2020.  Please see map for project location.

Construction vehicles will access the site from Oklahoma Avenue via Kansas Avenue between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Noise impacts are expected to be minimal, but some construction noise is anticipated during the hours of construction.

This project will provide electricity to twelve facilities at the COC. The proposed installation will offset approximately eighty percent of the County’s energy usage at the COC and result in energy cost savings of approximately $150,000 per year.

The work is being performed by ForeFront Power through a Board of Supervisors approved Energy Service Agreement. Under the Energy Service Agreement costs for design, engineering, and construction are included in the contracted price per kilowatt hour rate.
