County Taxpayers can use Easy Smart Pay to make monthly payments for annual property taxes.
Jim Erb, County Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector, announced the availability of Easy Smart Pay for county taxpayers who wish to make monthly payments towards their annual property tax bill, instead of paying in one or two installments per year. This program is designed for those who are not already paying through their lender or mortgage company.
“California law doesn’t allow the County to accept monthly payments directly. That’s why we were happy to see Easy Smart Pay create a program that accepts monthly payments from taxpayers and then pays the County when the biannual payments are due”, said Erb.
Easy Smart Pay is a voluntary program created by members of the California State Association of Counties Finance Corporation (CSAC Finance Corp.). If a taxpayer chooses to create an Easy Smart Pay account, they can pay monthly with a credit or debit card or directly from their checking account via ACH. Easy Smart Pay charges 2.25% for credit or debit card payments or 1.75% for checking account payments.
