- The Candidate Filing Period runs July 13 - August 7 (extended to August 12 if an incumbent does not file). Beginning the first full week of July, prospective candidates can call (805) 781-5228 to make a filing appointment.
- Candidate Statement Form for candidates running in multicounty districts and for whom SLO is not their home county.
- The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) offers a number of resources -- including campaign disclosure key dates, webinars, videos, and trainings -- for candidates and committees.
- Effective January 1, 2026, Elections Code §2166.9 requires all elected officials and candidates to become confidential voters. Current elected officials may use this form to opt out of this confidential voter status. Candidates, once they have filed to run for office, may use this form to opt out.
- On August 24, the SLO County Office of Education is hosting an informational event for anyone running for an elected position on a local school board. Some of the info presented will apply to candidates running for a CSD or special district as well, so anyone interested is welcome to attend.

- The Elections Office has no legal authority and is not trained to investigate allegations of election, candidate, or voter fraud. To report an incident of alleged fraud, contact the State Fraud and Investigations Unit, 916-657-2166 or 1-800-345-VOTE, or use the Secretary of State's Voter Complaint Form. You can also contact the SLO County District Attorney.

Randomized Alphabet and Candidate Rotation Information
- Results of SLO County's Randomized Alphabet Draw on August 13, 2026 and results of the Secretary of State's Randomized Alphabet Draw on August 13, 2026
- The California Secretary of State and San Luis Obispo County will conduct their respective random alphabet draws at 11:00 am on August 13, 2026. San Luis Obispo's local draw is conducted at our office, located at 1055 Monterey Street, Suite D120 in San Luis Obispo, at the same time. The public is invited to observe both processes.

At a Special Meeting held on August 5, 2026, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors took action to remove Measure H-26 from the November 3, 2026, Consolidated General Election ballot.
As a result of the Board's action, the original Measure H-26 will not appear on the November 3, 2026, ballot and will not be submitted to the voters for consideration at this election. Instead, at the request of Allan Hancock Joint Community College District, the measure formerly titled Measure J-26 will be listed on the ballot as Measure H-26, as it is in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
