On June 3, 2025, the Board of Supervisors adopted updates to the local accessory dwelling (ADU) and SB-9 urban dwelling and lot split ordinances that comes into effect July 3, 2025.


On June 3, 2025, the Board of Supervisors adopted updates to the local accessory dwelling (ADU) and SB-9 urban dwelling and lot split ordinances that comes into effect July 3, 2025. The local changes include allowing up to three accessory dwelling units per primary residence and streamlining permitting pathways for building more accessory dwellings and urban dwellings under the provision of SB-9.  These updates are part of the near-term housing actions identified in the 2020-2028 Housing Element Implementation Framework.
