Unemployment Rate for San Luis Obispo County saw a decrease in November 2025
The San Luis Obispo County Monthly Employment Report (November 2025) shows decreases in the civilian labor force, civilian employment, and civilian unemployment.
Unemployment
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported the unemployment rate was 4.5% in November 2025, which is a decrease from the last data received for September 2025. SLO County ranks as the 9th lowest Unemployment Rate in the state. The unadjusted Unemployment Rate in California was 5.4% and 4.3% in the nation during the same period.
Month-over Job Changes
The Government industry experienced the most job growth in the month of November, adding 600 jobs. The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities gained 400 jobs, and the Private Education and Health Services industry gained 100 jobs in the same period.
The Information, Financial Activities, Leisure and Hospitality, and Other Services saw no changes in job loss or growth during the month of November.
The Mining, Logging, and Construction sectors experienced the most losses during this report period, losing 200 jobs. The Manufacturing and Professional and Business Services industries each lost 100 jobs in November.
Total Farm experienced a month-over loss of 800 jobs.
During the November reporting period, San Luis Obispo County lost a total of 100 jobs.
Year-over Job Changes
The Private Education and Health Services industry experienced the largest year-over change, adding 900 jobs. The Leisure and Hospitality industry added 300 jobs each over the past year. The Other Services industry had a year-over gain of 100 jobs
The Manufacturing and Financial Activities industries reported no changes since the same time last year.
The Government industry experienced the most year-over loss, losing 1,800 jobs since this same reporting period in 2024. The Mining, Logging, and Construction industry experienced a year-over loss of 500 jobs. Trade, Transportation, and Utilities, and the Professional and Business Services industries lost 200 jobs each over the past year, and Information had a year-over loss of 100 jobs.
Total Farm experienced no year-over change.
Overall, employers in San Luis Obispo County lost 1,500 jobs over the past year.
