Unemployment Rate for San Luis Obispo County saw an increase in June 2024
The San Luis Obispo County Monthly Employment Report (June 2024) shows a decrease in the civilian labor force, a decrease in civilian employment, and an increase in civilian unemployment.
Unemployment
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported the unemployment rate was 4.0% in June 2024, which is an increase from the revised May 2024 rate. SLO County ranks as the 7th lowest Unemployment Rate in the state. The unadjusted Unemployment Rate in California was 5.3% and 4.3% in the nation during the same period.
Month-over Job Changes
The Government industry experienced the most job growth in the June reporting period, adding 400 jobs. The Leisure and Hospitality and the Mining, Logging, and Construction industries each added 100 jobs during the same reporting period
The Manufacturing, Information, Financial Activities, and Other Services industries all saw no changes in job loss or growth during the month of June.
The Private Education and Health Services industry experienced the most job loss in June, losing 200 jobs. The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities and the Professional and Business Services industries each lost 100 jobs.
Total Farm reported a gain of 100 jobs during the month of June.
During the same reporting period, San Luis Obispo County gained a total of 300 jobs.
Year-over Job Changes
The Private Education and Health Services industry experienced the largest year-over change, adding 1,000 jobs. The Professional and Business Services industry experienced a year-over gain of 300 jobs. The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities and the Leisure and Hospitality industries reported year-over-gain of 200 jobs each. The Mining, Logging, and Construction industry reported a gain of 100 jobs over the past year.
The Financial Activities and Other Services industries had no job losses or gains since this time last year.
The Government industry experienced the most year-over loss. losing 1,200 jobs. The Manufacturing and Information industries reported also reported a year-over loss of 100 jobs each.
Total Farm reported losing 300 jobs since last year at this time.
San Luis Obispo County employers reported a year-over gain of 100 jobs.
