This program is designed to provide mental health and substance use education, along with supports for wellness initiatives, in the County’s campus communities. Included in this role is participation in campus policy groups, outreach to campus groups, and acting liaison for county initiatives.

Components include:
Cal Poly Friday Night Live (FNL): This college-based chapter focuses on informing students about the negative consequences associated with drugs and alcohol, while encouraging positive, healthy, and responsible lifestyles.

Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based public education and prevention tool – it improves the public’s knowledge of mental health and substance use problems and connects people with care for their mental health or substance use problems. The College Prevention & Wellness program includes Mental Health First Aid training for the campus communities, including student leaders, housing staff, faculty and others.

Community Outreach: Outreach through health fairs, public speaking, and community activities (e.g. NAMI Walk, Suicide Prevention Month, WOW, Mental Health Awareness Month, Buck the Stigma, Mustang Mile, etc).

Collaborative Partners include University Housing, Campus Health & Wellbeing, New Student & Transition Programs, Transitions Mental Health Association, Active Minds, Cuesta College, etc.
