Retiree Health and Wellness Benefits
What is this service?
A retiree of SLOCPT is eligible to elect employer-sponsored medical coverage, dental, and VSP as long as the member retires within 120 days of separation from employment.
A retiree may elect medical, dental, and vision coverage at the time of retirement (within 120 days of separation from employment) and during the open enrollment period.
SLO County Retirees:
For 2018 -2021 the County transitioned from CalPERS to EIA Health beginning January 1, 2018. Please visit the County's Human Resources website for more information.
Starting with the 2018 plan year, Retirees will have two windows to elect coverage with the County; when they retire (within 120 days of separation from employment) and when they reach Medicare age eligibility. If a retiree does not elect coverage during either of these two windows or they cancel coverage at any time, they will no longer be eligible to participate in the County offered Medical coverage.
