Toro Creek Road Bridge Replacement

The project is located about six miles west of Atascadero and approximately two miles northwest of State Route 41, between Atascadero and Morro Bay. The project site is located within Supervisorial District 2.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has determined that the existing bridge should be replaced due to its poor condition. The project is eligible for federal funding.

This bridge serves the only route in and out of the area, and it is a vital access for public safety response. The existing wooden bridge was built in 1950, only has one lane, and is deteriorating.

The new bridge project will likely be a reinforced concrete structure and will replace the existing bridge in its same location. A temporary crossing will be constructed to allow access to the area while the new bridge is under construction. Work is anticipated to occur in summer 2026.
