New Creston Road Bridge Reopens

Creston Road Bridge to Open One Week Ahead of Schedule

The new Creston Road Bridge at Quail Creek (near South El Pomar Road) will open today, one week sooner than expected, after being closed for construction on June 1.

The detour and road closure signage will be removed, and the traffic pattern will return to normal. Motorists should be advised to drive with caution as the contractor may continue to work on the shoulders of the road to finalize the project.

The bridge, which had reached the end of its service life, experienced significant structural damage during the winter 2023 storms. Temporary repairs were completed at that time to re-open the road to the public, but the most recent work involved replacing the existing 85-year-old storm-damaged timber and concrete bridge with the new concrete bridge.
