Expect Delays for Road Paving in San Luis Obispo County
Author: Public Works
Date: 10/21/2025 3:26 PM
The County of San Luis Obispo Public Works Department will pave roads throughout the county from October 26 to December 18, and drivers should expect delays during this time. Work dates may change depending on the weather.
Crews will have one-way traffic control and flaggers in place at different work sites to keep traffic moving safely. Residents will receive a 72-hour notice before paving begins in their area. Notices will be left on doors. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted ahead of time to let drivers know when parking will not be allowed on the street.
On the day your street is being paved, no street parking will be allowed. Driveway access will be limited for a few hours while the new asphalt sets; however, emergency access will still be available.
Additionally, crews will remove the painted striping on the road and replace it with temporary and then permanent striping before and after the paving dates. This will only cause minor delays. In Nipomo, ADA curb ramps will be upgraded on Burton Street and Hazel Lane, also with minimal delays expected.
Motorists should expect delays for new asphalt paving at various roads in San Luis Obispo County. Driveway access will be temporarily restricted. Roads in the following communities will be included in this paving work:
