The County of San Luis Obispo Public Works Department is working on projects that will allow for the use of recycled rather than potable water for irrigation at two Los Osos community sites.
Los Osos Community Park: The conversion of the Los Osos Community Park to recycled water took place in early June. The park was previously irrigated using an on-site well. The $166,000 project was funded using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money and benefits the Los Osos Groundwater Basin.
Monarch Grove Elementary School: The County, in coordination with San Luis Obispo Coastal Unified School District and Golden State Water Company, will start the conversion of Monarch Grove Elementary School to recycled rather than potable water for irrigation of its sports fields on June 23, 2025. This $410,000 project is also funded with ARPA money and is expected to be under construction for approximately 45 days.
Hartzell General Engineering Contractor from Cayucos was the contractor for both projects.
